Houston ’s Office of Inspector General has been asked to conduct a “pay to play” ethics investigation into Controller Chris Hollins after Mayor John Whitmire raised concerns over sponsorship solicitation for this year’s Investors Conference . This year’s conference, Hollins’ first as controller, was the first time sponsorships were given, Whitmire said last week. They ranged from $10,000 to $100,000 and those who gave $100,000 were offered a private dinner with Hollins.
