Pittsburgh was picked first in the ACC Preseason Poll. Senior setter Rachel Fairbanks, sophomore right side Olivia Babcock, and sophomore outside hitter Torrey Stafford were named to the Preseason All-ACC Team.Penn State has swept six of its eight opponents, including a sweep of No. 4 Louisville. The Nittany Lions have dropped only three sets on the season, winning 3-2 against then-No. 9 ranked Kentucky and 3-1 to then-No. 15 ranked Tennessee.They rank second nationally in hitting percentage and seventh in kills per set .
Freshman setter Izzy Starck is the first Penn State player since Ali Frantti in 2014 to earn Big Ten Freshman of the Week awards in each of the first two weeks of her collegiate career. The second honor came after she recorded 47 assists, 17 digs, five kills, five blocks, and one ace in a reverse sweep win over No 9 Kentucky at the Kentucky Invitational.
