Thousands of pounds of food are donated yearly for a worthy cause which means a lot to the food bank.
DOTHAN, Ala. - For Miracle on Foster, we have witnessed the community pitch in to help the Wiregrass Area Food Bank.
“It is so exciting to see people willing to help others, especially this time of year,” Julie Gonzalez, the assistant director of the food bank said. But, when combating a challenge like hunger like the Wiregrass Area food bank, each donation is a step toward impacting someone’s life. “We are so fortunate at the Wiregrass Area Food Bank because all we have ever had to do is state the need and let the community know what is going on. The Wiregrass has always been so loving and generous and just able to step up and help us. This is a community food bank,” Gonzalez said.“We give out a lot of food over the Thanksgiving holidays and it is kind of hard to recuperate and do it again in time for Christmas so this food drive is always a great boost,” the assistant director said.
