While the industrial action coincides with a busy time for the airport, it is not yet clear what the impact will be on the usual operation of flights.Travel expert Julia Lo Bue-Said, chief executive of the Advantage Travel Partnership, the UK’s largest network of independent travel agents, said: “Passengers could potentially encounter some disruption to their travel plans over what is a peak holiday period for Brits and a busy time for the UK Outbound travel industry.
She added that Advantage would advise passengers who are travelling from Heathrow this Easter to arrive at the airport with plenty of time to spare before their flight., which is among the airlines operating at Heathrow, said: “We’re aware of proposed industrial action between 31 March and 9 April by Unite members employed by Heathrow Airport Ltd, including campus security guards. Our priority is to ensure that customers can complete their travel plans smoothly.
The busiest day for departures during the strikes is 31 March with Cirium data showing that 640 departure flights are scheduled.Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “Workers at Heathrow Airport are on poverty wages while the chief executive and senior managers enjoy huge salaries. It is the airport’s workers who are fundamental to its success and they deserve a fair pay increase.
