More people are testing COVID-19 due to the Omicron variant. Here’s what you need to know about the current isolation and quarantine requirements:
The CDC’s decision to shorten the recommended COVID-19 isolation and quarantine period from 10 days to five is drawing criticism.If you have symptoms and test positive for the coronavirus — or your doctor thinks you have COVID-19 — you must do the following things:
Alternately, if you don’t test again, you must stay home for at least 10 days after your symptoms first started; you have not had a fever for at least 24 hours; and your symptoms are improving. However, those who are close contacts of people with confirmed coronavirus infections must quarantine.
That means you’ve received your booster shot, or you’ve recently received your primary vaccination series and are not yet eligible for a booster shot. Adults are recommended to get booster shots six months after their second dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna shots, and two months after the primary dose of the Johnson & Johnson shot.L.A.
