Palm Royale’s queen of Palm Beach is in a coma.

The comedy miniseries takes place in Palm Beach in 1969 and centers around the exclusive country club, The Palm Royale.
At 90, 65 years since she broke out on The Garry Moore Show, Palm Royale adds to Burnett’s impressive filmography, which has won her numerous awards throughout her career. Palm Royale is based on the popular 2018 novel Mr. & Mrs. American Pie by Juliet McDaniel, which Abe Sylvia, the producer of projects such as The Eyes of Tammy Faye and Dead To Me, then adapted into the Apple TV+ original series.
Norma Had An Embolism In Palm Royale episode 1, Norma only appears in the background, with little known about her and her relationship with Maxine. Eventually, it’s revealed that Norma is one of the few living members left of Palm Royale’s famous Dellacorte family. She has been known as the queen of Palm Beach through her wealth, influence, and the biggest event of the season, her Beach Ball. Tragically, Norma had an embolism before the beginning of Palm Royale that left her in a coma.
Maxine Is Counting On Norma Dying Soon In Palm Royale When Maxine learned of Norma’s condition, she and her husband, Dougie, decided to move to Palm Springs. Dougie had once been a part of Palm Beach high society, but he left when he married Maxine, a beauty pageant queen from a small town in Pennsylvania. Palm Beach is a very expensive area to live in, and it’s one of many reasons Maxine doesn’t fit in there.
Norma is the heiress of a plastics and mouthwash dynasty and her nephew is her only living relative in Palm Royale. Because of this, Maxine and Dougie assumed they’d be inheriting everything when she died. Even with Norma still alive, Maxine has been living off her money, regularly stealing from her and squatting in the Dellacorte mansion without permission.
