It's gonna be cold, very cold, but will it be a record?
According to data from the National Weather Services in Birmingham, Huntsville and Mobile, this year’s Christmas weather may be positively balmy compared to what the state experienced nearly 40 years ago.On Christmas day, 1983, the low temperature in the Birmingham area fell to just 2 degrees Fahrenheit. In the Huntsville area, the low was -1 degree. Montgomery reached 5 degrees, and Mobile 8 degrees.
The coldest days during this cold front will likely be before Christmas day, as the arctic cold front is expected to roll through the state on Thursday and Friday. But this Christmas Day could still rank high on the list of coldest Christmases for each of those regions.[Can’t see the list?
