Ohio State only brought in three prospects on the offensive line in the 2025 class.
He praised multiple parts of the roster, including all three new position coaches and their job they did on the recruiting trail. But when asked specifically about the Buckeyes only bringing in three offensive linemen in the 2025 class, Day spoke bluntly.
Ohio State’s 2025 recruiting class is complete, pending a signee during February’s signing period, and more questions have been raised about the state of offensive line recruiting under coach Justin Frye. The Buckeyes had some notable swings-and-misses in the cycle, the loudest of which was five-star offensive tackle David Sanders Jr. — who signed with Tennessee and stayed with his original commitment. And the long-term outlook of the last few years of recruiting doesn’t match up with other areas of the roster.
“I guess in today’s day and age it’s a little bit different how you put the roster together, it’s not just about the high school guys in recruiting,” Day added. “You have to make sure that you have your numbers and you have your depth. Whether it’s through retention, or maybe a guy in the portal here or there, that’s what it’s going to come down to. It’s everybody’s job as a position coach to make sure they have what they need.
