A Thursday night 20-15 win over the Giants ended a two-game losing streak, but the Cowboys still weren’t satisfied.
Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons and quarterback Dak Prescott wait for a play review after head coach Mike McCarthy threw a red flag during the first half against the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, September 26, 2024.ended a two-game losing streak and halted discussions about a lack of professionalism, poor chemistry between the star quarterback and receiver and maybe people can move on about the Cowboys’ inability to stop the run.
The 1.08 yards-per-carry was the sixth-lowest allowed in Cowboys history. The last time the Cowboys allowed less than a yard per carry was 2015 when they held the Eagles to just 20 rushing yards on nine carries. “Winning is important,” linebacker Micah Parsons said. “It’s hard to do in this league, so edging out a 20-15 win, wasn’t perfect. I’m done scraping by. I don’t want to scrape by no more. I want legit wins and win consistently.”
It was an ugly win, but a victory was needed for a McCarthy team that hadn’t lost three consecutive games under him since 2020. Losing would have stunk before the next game, 10 days from now at Pittsburgh. The Cowboys have come to grips — despite what the NFC East may look like this weekend — that they can’t slip up again with the same problems that surfaced during the losing streak.
