. From the moment I arrived at 5 p.m., couples were already sitting down to share a romantic meal that felt straight out of Paris.
“When I saw the place, I fell in love with the neighborhood,” said Clement, who first opened L’Ardoise in 2008. “With the large sidewalks and the trees, I would describe the area as a little village in San Francisco.” Over L’Ardoise’s nearly 15 years, Clement has seen his fair share of first dates. The signs are usually obvious.
He’s even noticed some serial daters, who bring a multitude of first dates to the restaurant. Some maintain the same exact routine each time.
