Here's what to do to prepare for dust storms and possible power outages this monsoon season.
The Monsoon Meter was developed by 12News meteorologists to show the monsoon threat around the state with one quick view.PHOENIX — Monsoon is when Arizona is covered by blinding, dangerous dust storms and massive thunderstorms. The 12News exclusive Monsoon Meter is a tool you can count on to help predict storms.
The meter scale ranges from zero, which would indicate no weather activity, to 10, meaning conditions are right for severe or widespread activity in the region. For example, if storms in the White Mountains are not forecast to make it into the Phoenix Valley, the Monsoon Meter may still be high for Phoenix due to the possibility of strong winds or dust.
