The premise for both is the same: Mi Tienda offers regional Mexican faire and shopping experience along with standard H-E-B products.The demographics of the store are primarily Hispanic, but the products available reflect a diversity that goes beyond Mexico. Among the stacks of pan de elote and conchas at the entrance, you'll find other kinds of pan dulce from other parts of the southern continent, such as quesadilla Salvadoreña.
The panadería carries more traditional tres leches cakes than the mainstream, commercial variety found in other supermarkets. In addition, the shelves are stocked with an immense variety of pan dulces and bolillos. It even sells mostachon, an upscale Mexican meringue cake. The cheese shop also carries regional cheeses from Mexico and Latin America. Queso panelo is the most purchased alongside the typical queso fresco and crema cheeses. The selection is vast.
"From a value perspective, we've got our masa out. Some people want to be a hero and they want to start making tortillas and tamales from scratch . Other people are like, I have no time. We also carry pineapple and strawberry, and these are mainly for kids."
