There are, generously, maybe 20 people who could do a great job singing the National Anthem. Then there are the lucky ones whose renditions aren’t outright offensive to the ear. Then there’s everyone else. Unfortunately, country singer Ingrid Andress found out last night she’s part of the third group. She was tasked withat the 2024 Home Run Derby, and to say it went poorly is an understatement. Of course, she’s not the only one, because that song is impossible to sing.
What’s especially awful about her version is that it’s not like Fergie is renowned for singing like this. The surprise of it — it’s bad, but not like how you think it will be — is what keeps it at No. 1.
