V Ganabatirau questions why only small projects like pump installations and drainage cleaning are being carried out.
KUALA LUMPUR: V Ganabatirau has lamented the lack of progress in flood mitigation projects in his constituency, saying this leaves residents “restless” when it rains.
Ganabatirau urged the irrigation and drainage department to closely monitor the flood mitigation projects, including ensuring the size of the projects commensurate with their price tag. Its minister, Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, said the plan will start with more frequent maintenance of the drains. Klang, a port city with a high population density, is often hit by floods, with the worst occurrence in December 2021.
