and the rest of Dallas’ top six have been solid in the scoring department, but there was a significant dropoff for Pete DeBoer’s unit. The top six were responsible for 67% of the Stars’ goals to that point. But if the Stars wanted to make , the overtime losses have to discontinue. Dallas sits atop the Western Conference’s Central Division at 34-17-13. That’s the most overtime losses in the division and the only other team in double digits is the 21-32-10 Coyotes.The Stars needed depth and got it. How much difference will it make down the stretch?
“But our goal is only to win the Stanley Cup. First of all, a lot of things have to happen,” Stars GM Jim Nill said on“I’ve been in this game a long time and I’ve been with teams that, same way, a step to win but a lot of things got to go right. You’ve got to stay healthy, you’ve got to have great goaltending and you’ve got to get a little bit lucky. So we think we’re set up for that, now we’ve got to do it on the ice.
As for what Dallas had to give up to make it happen? The understanding was the Stars were not willing to part with any of their prized prospects because they are an organization that has come to rely upon the draft-and-develop approach of building their team. Mission accomplished.”
