Is a repeat of Gladiator's opening scene possible?

The more likely candidate would be a clash from the Parthian War of Caracalla, which was a series of campaigns against the Parthian Empire from 216-217.
The adult Lucius Verus II in Gladiator 2 is on his own journey of vengeance, carrying on the legacy of his hero, the late Maximus Decimus Meridius. The Crisis of the Third Century was actually kicked off by the assassination of Emperor Severus Alexander by his own troops. It doesn't take much imagination or timeline manipulation to make the villainous co-emperors Geta and Caracalla stand in for Emperor Severus Alexander, and to make Lucius Verus II the troop who assassinates the emperor.
