Most of us now know that the artificial intelligence revolution is changing our worlds in a big way. But let’s go to a particular sort of trend that’s more related to the enterprise market than anything that has to do with people’s jobs, or shopping habits, or lifestyles.
What experts are finding is that the cost of a particular number of tokens is dropping at breakneck speed, at least partly because of big new models in LLM engineering. how smaller models, open source models, better tuning, and optimizations are improving what you can get for your money when it comes to AI.
But there’s a third one that Appenzeller also mentions called Edholm’s law, which refers to telecommunications. It’s the idea that your wireless, roaming and cabled networks are all advancing roughly at the same rate. It seems a little less relevant to this particular market trend, but there it is.
