The USMNT controls its own destiny. Win vs. Iran, and the Americans advance to the knockouts of the FIFAWorldCup.
England lead the group on four points. They are closely followed by Iran, who have three points after their win against Wales earlier on Friday.Wales are in bottom place. They drew against the USMNT to start the tournament but lost to Iran.Fortunately for the United States, they have their World Cup fate in their own hands.
A win against Iran on Tuesday would see them overtake their opponents. If England overcome Wales in their final match, the USMNT would finish second with a win. If England lose, they’d climb to first in Group B while England would finish second, unless they lose by a margin of more than three goals. As Iran have three points, a draw would give both teams a point, which means Iran would finish in top two — unless Wales won — while the US would finish third.Get all-access to exclusive stories.
