Imagine telling yourself two years ago that the Seattle Seahawks would trade Russell Wilson, and that not only would Geno Smith be the starter, he’s set to be the start the 2024 season. I’ve learned that, even though he’s been off the team for over two years, literally anything directly or indirectly related to Russell Wilson draws comments and pageviews.
Drew Lock was acquired as part of the Wilson trade but never won the starting job. He did win hearts and minds when he filled in for Smith and humiliated the Philadelphia Eagles on national television. Lock is with the New York Giants, while the Seahawks traded for former Washington Commanders starter Sam Howell. John Schneider cited Howell’s NFL experience and age as a selling point relative to the likes of the older Bo Nix and Michael Penix Jr.
