Should Deshaun Watson have thrown it into the end zone on fourth-and-3?

As the for the fourth-and-3 from the Raiders 9-yard line with the Browns trailing 20-16, Kevin Stefanski didn’t like the initial look and called a timeout — a debatable decision considering if he had kept all three, perhaps they could’ve stopped the Raiders and gotten another possession.Browns rookie DT Mike Hall Jr. suspended 5 games for violating the personal conduct policy; can be reinstated Oct.
“They played man coverage,” Jerry Jeudy said. “I think the DBs kind of messed up the coverage on the left side of the field. That was the read. It was Coop to the corner, but the DB kind of messed up the look, so it kind of messed up our play in a way kind of. And Deshaun had to scramble and try to make a play, couldn’t get the ball off. That’s what I saw.”
“Listen, we did not execute exactly how we should on that play,” Stefanski said. “Obviously, the quarterback understands it’s a fourth down play, so you want to give somebody a chance. He did not have the opportunity going to his left. Protection, we can be better in protection. We can be more precise in our routes. All those things contribute to that.”
Despite more offensive line woes, he got the Browns out to a 10-0 lead in the first quarter with an excellent 15-play, 70-yard TD drive to open the game and then a field goal drive. In the second quarter, Dawand Jones got beat off the edge to wreck what likely would’ve been a touchdown pass to Cooper for a 17-10 halftime edge. Then, in the third quarter, Watson hit Cooper in the numbers with a perfect pass to the Vegas 32 that bounced up off of his chest and was picked off.
What’s more, Watson has been without Njoku for the past three weeks and they’ve missed him terribly, with many of the clutch plays normally going to him. Due back this week, he’ll help out in a huge way in both receiving and blocking.
