David Stern had a quick first step, to borrow the basketball metaphor.
I really think that’s his legacy—that even now, in the hurly-burly of streaming video and social media, when attention spans are shrinking, mass audiences are almost extinct, and basketball, like almost everything else, is experiencing a TV ratings hit, the NBA retains an undeniable cultural currency. Basketball stays relevant, because it moves fluidly, adapts and evolves. It feels like today and tomorrow.
