Update : The Modernization of Cosmetics Regulation Act was signed into law in December 2022 to give the FDA more oversight over the cosmetics industry, with the goal of creating safer beauty products. Allure reached out to the sources we interviewed at the time to get their take on where this legislation stands now, following the election of Donald Trump and a Republican majority in both the Senate and the House of Representatives.
