Sooner or later the scythe may swing for you. The thing that eventually sort of broke my back at CNN was the lack of job security. There was always a sense that this could come to an end. Frankly, nobody wants to operate under those daily conditions. It was always sort of imminent, we turned the apple cart upside down once, we’ll do it again if we have to, nobody here is safe, you’re not particularly valued. I mean, that really was the message.

It was the fastest way to alert the Bureau to something that was happening prior to, you know, running yourself back to your computer terminal and typing it into the system.I felt like Fox was faster, yes. I’ll admit this, I was absolutely, I think like many others, completely enamored with the speed. I mean, I loved breaking things prior to anybody else. We could get things out there much faster.

I know that historically people tend to look back now at Fox as being the, the sort of center point of the, or the originator of that sort of, you know, fearful, you know, constant coverage or constant bemoaning that the next thing was going to happen.
