WGA Says Studios Want Writers to “Cave” After AMPTP Releases Offer

In a letter to guild members, the WGA Negotiating Committing says that studios and streamers are trying to get writers to “turn on each other.”

The AMPTP’s proposal promises to create “a new structure to train writers to become the showrunners of tomorrow," which would guarantee length of employment and require at least two mid-level writers to work on each production.

After the WGA went on strike May 2nd, the AMPTP refused to come to the negotiating table for approximately 102 days. Bargaining finally began again on August 11, where the AMPTP presented their counter-offer to the WGA.
