Heavy snowfall overnight in western Washington has led to hazardous road conditions and widespread power outages. Schools and government offices are experiencing delays and closures as crews work to clear roads and restore electricity.

Overnight snowfall in western Washington has once again made travel on local roadways difficult due to icy conditions on Thursday morning. Lowland snow started falling on Wednesday and continued into the overnight hours as temperatures fell and rounds of showers continued to push into the Puget Sound area. According to the FOX 13 Seattle Weather team, the area should dry out by the second half of the morning commute, with sunshine on tap for the second half of the day.

Temperatures will warm again to the mid 30s, which should help melt any snow or ice on the main roads by midday.Kitsap County had announced earlier in the morning that the courthouse and all county offices would be delayed on Thursday. Now the courthouse and county offices are closed due to weather. The Snohomish County Public Utility District is working to restore power to customers throughout Snohomish County and Camano Island. The city of Kirkland said its crews have been clearing its roads since early this morning. The Kitsap County Sheriff's Office said heavy snowfall and ice buildup has brought down power lines. FOX 13 Seattle was at the scene of a tree and power lines down in Bothell. State Route 106 at Milepost 8 was blocked because of trees down. Seattle Public Utilities announced that there will be no residential garbage, recycling or food/yard waste pickup on Thursday due to weather. Customers who are scheduled for pickup on Wednesday can bring in their bins and can have double the amount next week. WSDOT are advising drivers to leave early if they need to travel on area highways. Earlier in the day, the Washington State Department of Transportation said the southbound off-ramp to State Route 520 in Seattle was blocked due to water over the roadway. King County Metro said its buses will remain on snow routes for Thursday.Officials with Kitsap County said its courthouse and all county offices are on a two-hour delay Thursday because of weather. Waste and recycling, including the Olympic View Transfer Station, will be on a two-hour delay. FlightAware.com reported 37 flights out of SEA are delayed, and there are 16 cancelations for Thursday. Crews with Seattle City Light reported nearly 4,000 customers in the Lake Fore Park area are without power. The cause is under investigation and the time of restoration is unknown. Puget Sound Energy reported more than 21,000 customers were impacted by a power outage. More districts have announced their schools are on a late start and have updated their bus routes.
