Tre Mitchell is joining John Calipari in Kentucky.
."This was a unique situation, but as soon as he put his name in the portal, he was a player I knew we needed to pursue. He brings leadership, experience, size and versatility and is a great fit for what we want to do. I know this is a win for us and I believe this will be a win for him too. We are excited to have him as a part of our program."
Kentucky marks the fourth school that Mitchell will play for. He spent two seasons at UMass before transferring to Texas. He then transferred to West Virginia, where he averaged 11.7 points and 5.5 rebounds per game last season. Mitchell was one of three Mountaineers players to enter the transfer portal in recent days after Huggins' resignation earlier this month.on June 16 after police said they found his car blocking a road with the driver-side door open and one of the tires shredded. He reportedly blew a .210 on a breathalyzer and failed a field sobriety test. It marked Huggins' second DUI.
