For the first time there will be a face-to-face meeting with a UK Government Minister
Women Against State Pension Injustice campaigners in West Lothian believe that their campaign has reached an important milestone.
“For the first time there will be a face-to-face meeting with a Minister,” said Carla O’Hara, Co-Ordinator of the Waspi West Lothian group. It announced that the Department for Work and Pensions was guilty of maladministration because it failed to provide proper information to 1950s women about delays to their State Pension age; that the women involved suffered injustice as a result; and that they should receive compensation.
She continued: “I am grateful to our MP Gregor Poynton for meeting with me to discuss compensation for 1950s women and for agreeing to write to the Minister. A drop-in session for MPs has been arranged by WASPI, on September 11, in Westminster and I am pleased that Gregor has agreed to attend.”
