Broxburn Academy has seen some superb accomplishments by their young debaters in recent years
The pupils have stood up, and given voice, to West Lothian’s youth in the hallowed halls of Cambridge and Oxford universities as well as around the world.
Highlights of the school’s achievements include pupils attending debates against the top schools from around the world in Oxford and Cambridge, captaining the national schools debating team in Vietnam and winning The Law Society’s prestigious Donald Dewar debating award. Answering queries from councillors all the pupils agreed that being a member of the debating group had given them confidence in thinking and speaking- and even helped them win family arguments.
“Huge congratulations to all the young people involved, with the panel members enjoying the sample debate on artificial intelligence put on for us by the pupils.”
