WEST JORDAN — A West Jordan man is facing a felony charge accusing him of kidnapping another man, having him strip to his underwear and holding him captive for allegedly stealing a dog — even though the man didn't really believe the victim took his dog.
Jadon Randy Jones, 23, was charged Friday in 3rd District Court with aggravated kidnapping, a first-degree felony.On May 18, a man "was ripped down to the ground and several people attacked" him, including one who "had wrapped a belt around their hand and punched" the victim, according to charging documents. The dispute was apparently over a lost or stolen dog.Witnesses say Jones hit the victim several times and attempted to choke him while also saying, "I'm not trying to hurt you. I just want my dog back," the charges state.The victim was later interviewed by police and said he and others had gone to Jones' residence for a party. He said he "was pulled down to the ground, was stripped of his clothing down to his underwear, and was being held down and punched in the face several times. stated he was kept inside the residence for about 30 minutes and was given back his clothes and released when the police showed up. suffered a large welt on the side of his face and had abrasion marks on his neck," according to the charges." reported that Jones kept him pinned down for about 10 minutes while his clothes were stripped off and he was getting punched."At one point, Jones and others allegedly tried to wrap the victim's shirt around his head as a blindfold and force him into a vehicle, until someone in the group "told everyone he was not going to let anything else happen," the charges state.When questioned by detectives, Jones said the victim and his friends in his house had been inquiring about his dogs, but he refused to sell one to them. Later, he said he discovered one of his dogs was missing."Jones admitted he didn't believe had anything to do with the theft of his dog, but was the last of that friend group left at the house, so Jones confronted because he wanted to call his friends back to the house.
