Michael Mackrell, 41, of Wellington, pleaded guilty to assaulting five police officers during the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.CLEVELAND, Ohio— A Wellington father and son have admitted to attacking several officers during the Jan. 6, 2021, siege on the U.S. Capitol.

Michael Mackrell, wearing a gas mask, attacked five officers, three from the Washington, D.C., Metro police force and two from the U.S. Capitol. FBI agents wrote in court records that they identified Clifford Mackrell after they released his photo to the public. A tipster told agents he graduated from Wellington High School in 2018.

In social media posts on Jan. 6, 2021, Clifford Mackrell wrote: “It is our literal job as Americans to kill the tyrannical government.”
