A friend of her family confirmed this. Friends have also been paying tribute to her on her Facebook page. The Police said they are still withholding her identity until a formal identification is held. According to police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg, neighbours of the 40-year-old woman heard her screaming and glass breaking in the early morning hours of 9 August.
"They immediately responded and found her lying on the floor with stab wounds. She was rushed to hospital but succumbed to her injuries," said Janse van Rensburg. Police Forensic Investigators were still on the scene this afternoon at the house where Marolien Schmidt was murdered.According to Janse van Rensburg, it was later established that the suspect gained entrance to the property by breaking a side window.
