“Jessica Mann, one of the sexual assault victims in this case, is not backing down and is committed to knowing that justice is served again,” a prosecutor said Wednesday afternoon.
A noticeably thinner Harvey Weinstein was wheeled into Manhattan criminal court on Wednesday for the first time since an appeals court’s shock decision to overturn his 2020 rape conviction.
“Jessica Mann, one of the sexual assault victims in this case, is not backing down and is committed to knowing that justice is served again,” Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Nicole Blumberg said at the hearing. “She has the truth.”Mann, who was sitting in the courtroom in a red shirt, looked straight ahead as prosecutors vowed to retry Weinstein as soon as September.
Prosecutors on Wednesday insisted they could bring another case against Weinstein by September—even without so-called Molineux witnesses—and asked that he be held behind bars in the meantime. Judge Curtis Farber agreed, remanding Weinstein until his next court date on May 29.
