Wesley Sneijder has joked that Manchester United’s move for Wout Weghorst ‘must be a stunt’.
The Dutch football legend was delivering his verdict on the Netherlands’ striker as he closes in on a loan move to Old Trafford.Sneijder is a Dutch football legend and isn’t impressed with Man United’s move for Weghorst The 30-year-old is currently employed by Burnley after joining the club last January, however his start to life at Turf Moor was less-than impressive.
Having scored just two goals in 20 appearances, the Clarets suffered relegation and Weghorst headed out on loan to Besiktas for the season where he has really impressed.Having scored nine goals and getting four assists in 18 appearances this term, United clearly seem Weghorst as a player who can make an impact between now and the end of the season.
However despite impressing for the Netherlands at the World Cup as well, Sneijder isn’t impressed with the move., Sneijder said: “I think they’ve seen the trick with the free kick [in the quarter-final of the World Cup against Argentina], so they don’t fall for that in England anymore.Advertisement
