Widespread reports have indicated that the Red Devils have serious interest in bringing the Netherlands international to Old Trafford in the January transfer window.
Besiktas boss Senol Günes admitted yesterday that there had been “developments” in Weghorst’s future at the Turkish club when asked about the Dutchman. “I have heard that there are developments, but the transfer is not yet complete. He can only leave if he has spoken to me and the club first.” The club statement read: “The claim that there is an exit clause in our player’s contract, stating that his contract can be terminated with a compensation of 2.5 million euros in case of an offer from the Premier League, is fictitious.
