Many bands with a couple of decades of alt-rock charting hits -- “Beverly Hills,” “Undone-The Sweater Song,” “Hashpipe and “Pork and Beans” -- could slip into legacy mode and play the hits until retirement or death. But Weezer’s primary singer-songwriter Rivers Cuomo has become more prolific in his relative rock and roll dotage. Weezer went viral and had a social media revival in 2019 when an online fan campaign to get the band to record a cover of Toto’s 80s classic “Africa.
