Expect a weekend of changing weather conditions, with temperatures warming up on Friday before a cold front brings showers and colder air on Saturday. A significant drop in temperatures is expected on Sunday, with the possibility of winter weather developing early next week.
Get ready for a weekend rollercoaster of temperatures and weather conditions! Friday will be delightful with sunshine dominating the first half of the day before increasing clouds roll in during the afternoon. Temperatures will be pleasant, warming into the low to mid-60s, a very typical range for this time of year. Forget about another chilly night, as a southerly flow will keep lows mild in the 50s. As clouds increase, so does the chance for some wet weather.
The weekend brings a shift with a cold front arriving on Saturday. This front will usher in showers and maybe a few thunderstorms. Currently, severe weather is not expected. However, another blast of cold air arrives Saturday night into Sunday, bringing a significant drop in temperatures. Sunday will see highs around 50 degrees along the I-10 corridor, while inland areas will stay in the 40s. Wind chill will make it feel even colder.By Monday, MLK Day, temperatures will plummet into the 20s, with wind chills potentially dipping into the teens or even single digits! Even with partly cloudy skies during the afternoon, highs may only reach the upper 30s and lower 40s. Tuesday will bring similar temperatures, but also the possibility of winter weather. A low-pressure system in the Gulf is projected to develop and track through the north central Gulf, increasing the chance of snow and icy mix. If the track shifts southward, it could pull the moisture away, leaving us with a different forecast. Stay tuned for updates as we monitor this developing winter weather scenario. Temperatures will remain bitterly cold through mid-week before warming slightly by the end of the week, potentially bringing a chance of cold rain.
