Our experts are in lock step for the Jaguars at Texans game Sunday, and a winner has already been declared for the top picker of 2022.
I think the Jaguars have reached the point under head coach Doug Pederson where they are rarely going to lose games against teams they’re supposed to beat. Plus, Trevor Lawrence is playing at a significantly higher level than he was when these teams first met.
Putting aside the fact this game has no bearing on the AFC South division champion, it's a game the Jaguars should take a little personally. It's incredulous they have lost eight straight and 14 of the last 16 meetings to a Texans franchise that is 19 games below .500 since 2014. Trevor Lawrence cannot possibly lose a third time to a so-so quarterback like Davis Mills.I think this might be a carbon copy of the Jets game: good defense, no mistakes, take care of business and move on to the Titans.Trevor Lawrence picks up his first career victory against the Texans in another solid performance for him.No, this game isn't nearly as important to the Jaguars as next week against Tennessee. And, yes, the Texans have been consistently putting up a fight against stronger opponents through December. But it still feels like advantage Jaguars against the team with the NFL's weakest record. While it doesn't directly affect the divisional picture, a Jags win keeps alive a chance for the team's second winning season in the last 15 years.Let's not discount the Houston Texans. They did the Jaguars a huge favor in defeating the Titans last week. In their two games prior to that, the Texans lost to the Chiefs by 6 and the Cowboys by 4 . They're not quite as bad as their 2-13 record makes them seem. That being said, the Jaguars are playing at a high level and I don't see the Texans having enough firepower to win this game.
