Robbie Williams, who was working in the Wonnangatta Valley before Russell Hill and Carol Clay were killed, has told a jury a ‘sweaty, little fellow’ had asked him where to camp.

Robert Tasman Williams, also known as Robbie Williams, told a Supreme Court jury on Thursday he was working in the Wonnangatta Valley spraying blackberries and oxeye daisies when he came across a hunter in a dark-coloured Nissan Patrol and trailer who asked for recommendations on where to set up camp.It was March 18, 2020, two days before the alleged murders, when Williams described speaking to a friendly “little short fellow”.

“I actually waved to the drone. He tilted the wings of the drone to acknowledge me. It was like he waved to me with his drone,” Williams said. The jury was also given their first glimpse inside the remote Wonnangatta Valley, with police air wing footage of the thick bush in the area and the small clearing of Bucks Camp.
