PETALING JAYA: Hard work is needed in order for Barisan Nasional to defend the Chini state seat in the by-election, says MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.
"Every time there is an election, it is certain that we cannot stay comfortable. We will continue to work hard to ensure the Chini state seat is not only defended, but with even more votes.
"As polling day on Saturday approaches, I hope all voters come out to perform their responsibility and obey the SOP that has been stated by the Election Commission," he said in a Facebook post on Thursday . He added that he was present at the Muafakat Nasional speech with other Barisan leaders, including the coalition's deputy chairman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan."Your choice will not just decide the development as well as Chini's future, but will also open a new chapter of a political direction at national level," said Muhyiddin, who is also Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia president.
The by-election will see a three-cornered contest between Mohd Sharim and two independent candidates, Tengku Datuk Zainul Hisham Tengku Hussin, 64, and Mohd Shukri Mohd Ramli, 49.
