The cost of a wedding has gone up, according to data from wedding web site The Knot, but not dramatically. The national average cost of a wedding in 2022 was $30,000, up $2,000 from 2021. In 2019, before the pandemic, that figure stood at $28,000. “It’s been a rollercoaster,” Bjorn said. “ are a little bit lower now than they were at the start of the year, but still higher than last year.”
“From talking to dozens of couples who chose to elope during the pandemic, many of them used the restrictions as an excuse to not plan a big, expensive wedding that they were never particularly excited about in the first place,” she said.
