The Town of Webster voted Thursday to pursue a contract with Penfield Volunteer Ambulance.

Earlier this year, financial issues led North East Quadrant Advanced Life Support, or NEQALS, to shut down, after decades of service. On a temporary basis, PVA stepped in to fill the gap, and ultimately hired several of NEQALS's former employees."We hired about seven or eight others, just to help with ramping up," Riordan said.
The agency has an operating budget of roughly $6 million, according to Riordan, for serving both towns. Currently, the agency staffs and operates two satellite ambulances, relative to its Penfield headquarters, which are housed in Webster fire stations.
