Our holiday weekend weather starts off nicely with seasonable temperatures Saturday afternoon under increasing clouds. But a developing storm off the Florida coast moves north starting Saturday, bringing rain and increasingly gusty wind to our area by Sunday afternoon and evening, prompting a Weather Alert.
The biggest impact from this storm will be on the marine community with offshore wave heights building to 15feet.In terms of wind, the highest wind potential looks to occur across the islands, where gusts of 50+mph are possible on Monday. For most of us, the wind impact doesn't look too severe, but certainly a mess to clean up after with lots of leaves and small branches to pick up in our yards! Rain amounts could also be significant; however, there hasn't been as much consistency as I would like to see in the guidance up to this point. Right now, I feel as though 1.5" to 3" of rain potential across much of the area seems reasonable. The worst of the storm looks to shift away late Monday night into early Tuesday with a drier air mass sweeping in.There certainly may be some fluctuation in the timing and the amounts of the storm's impact so I urge you to stay tuned to StormTeam10 over the course of the weekend.
