We will not risk total grid collapse to avoid a few hours load-shedding — deputy president
Deputy President Paul Mashatile has assured that the South African government will do its utmost to give Eskom the ability to increase its generation while ensuring that it doesn’t compromise the national power grid.on Thursday, 23 March 2022.
The deputy president was responding to a question from African Christian Democratic Party member Steve Swart. “Our interventions are to ensure that we can reduce the challenges of load-shedding. We will do everything as government to ensure that there are no technical interventions that will result in us having the problem of load-shedding increasing.”
The ACDP member’s main question asked about the technical interventions that were put in place to suspend load-shedding over the long weekend last week.Mashatile side-stepped the technical question to focus on the ACDP’s latter concerns.he is confident of Eskom’s abilityThe minister was responding to a question about what had changed from a month ago when Eskom warned about intense load-shedding this winter.
