'This is how it felt to be a human being.'
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT The horrors of the Holocaust are explored in a powerful and intimate new way with We Were the Lucky Ones. Adapted from Georgia Hunter's New York Times bestselling novel of the same name, the Hulu miniseries revolves around a Jewish family living in Poland when Germany invades the country, kicking off World War II.
Yaron & Aloni Felt We Were The Lucky Ones Was Important As "Part Of Our Heritage" Screen Rant: We Were the Lucky Ones is such a beautiful, powerful show, so many amazing adjectives I can use to tell this story. Hadas, I'll start with you, and then Michael, what about this project really sparked both of your interests to want to be a part of it?
Michael Aloni: I totally agree with that. It's such a human story, and it's the family values and the way to survive as humans in those conditions, horrible conditions. I think Georgia Hunter's book is captivating, as well as the scripts of the series, and just draws you right in. And the fact that it's part of our heritage, it's a very important one to tell, especially today, and to be reminded of what happened, and what could never happen again.
Michael Aloni: I think the setting, the costume designer and the set designer just did a brilliant job. We were filming in Spain and Romania for about more than six months, and they made everything so real and possible to really help you, as an actor, just dive into that moment. And harsh moments, as well. There's delicate moments of the family and being all together, which is — I think Tommy Kail put us all together to begin with.
