Beth Bird, now 24, bought a two-bed home for less than £140,000 with her fiance when she was 21 and he was 26, and they renovated it in just one year by doing most of the work themselves. Beth documented everything during the process and has shared some of her top tricks for making it all happen.
‘I ripped up the carpet in the bathroom the morning after getting the keys and started stripping the wallpaper the same day. ‘Walking on the bathroom carpet for the first night was pretty horrific.’ Beth managed to complete most of the work in just six months, and wanted to do everything ‘as budget-friendly as possible’ so did almost all of the work herself, which she said saved her thousands.
