'A sense of tranquillity enveloped the tourists.'
Nestled along Yorkshire's picturesque East Coast lies Filey Beach, a hidden gem which has been proclaimed as “even better than being abroad,” according to happy visitors.
While this experience may not seem like the ideal start to a relaxing day in the sunshine, it does remind you of those charming little towns in France clustered along the coastline and brimming with an almost frantic atmosphere. At every twist and turn, shops, hotels, apartment blocks and quaint seaside homes are stuffed between each bend, overlooking the azure horizon as you swoop ever closer to the shore.
And remarkably, we stumbled upon a shop selling ice cream for dogs, a delightful and unexpected touch. Additionally, there’s gift shops selling the seaside essentials such as sandals, spades, buckets, lidos and rubber rings.
