On the northeast end of the bridge, pretty much unnoticed by most of us, is a miles-long manufacturing center where engineering miracles in shipbuilding and repair are happening every day performed by thousands of skilled union workers.
I was fortunate to be given a tour recently —- a kindness to a very senior lady with a special interest in Port management — by Timothy McHue, the engineer/marine architect/former Naval officer/business executive/ teacher, an outstanding American citizen who runs Hunting Ingalls.
