Since its official announcement on this year’s April Fool’s day, we finally got to see the ASUS Mjolnir up close at the brand’s booth at Computex this year.

And let us assure you that the product is real.

For the uninitiated, the ASUS Mjolnir is an Uninterrupted Power Supply that was designed and fashioned to look like the weapon of the Norse God of War, Thor. Like its namesake, it’s a mildly intimidating piece of equipment, exuding a sense of power. That aside, the specifications of Mjolnir are pretty straightforward.

Besides the four main plug points, you also get a healthy dose of USB-A and USB-C ports, which also makes it one of the biggest powerbanks to ever be commercially made. For that matter, it’s not the lightest either; it weighs 10kg, so if you think you’re going to be lugging this UPS around casually, you’ve got another thing coming to you. That, or you’re just really into bodybuilding.

As for the power output, ASUS says that the Mjolnir can output a maximum of 1200W, which would give you less than an hour on uninterrupted gaming on one of its gaming laptops, and up to one hour if you dumb down the output to 768W. Of course, if the power in your house or office were to suddenly trip and go out, we’d imagine the first you’d be doing is backing up your files and shutting down your system, and not continue playing your games.

One other thing: the handle on the top of the Mjolnir? That’s not really a handle and is, in fact, a detachable flashlight that can be charged wirelessly via the base. For that matter, the charging base at the top of the UPS supports Qi2 wireless charging, delivering up to 15W of power.
