The Sydney Roosters have emphatically denied making a formal offer to rising NSW Waratahs star Max Jorgensen, but coach Trent Robinson says he’d like to recruit him in the future.

The Sydney Roosters have emphatically denied making a formal offer to rugby union young gun Max Jorgensen, but admit they want him at the club at some point in the future.

Jorgensen, who has played just 14 Super Rugby matches, is off contract with the Waratahs and Rugby Australia at the end of this year. “I love the game and want to make my mark here playing for the Wallabies,” Jorgensen said. “It’s a dream to play in a World Cup and with the British and Lions coming up next year. It comes around every 12 years, so if you miss out, you don’t get another opportunity to do it again. Playing something like that would be awesome.”

The Roosters have a number of big-name players leaving the club at the end of the season. Joseph Manu is expected to depart to take up a deal with a Japanese rugby club and Joseph Suaalii will join the Waratahs in next year’s Super Rugby Pacific competition as part of his $1.6 million deal with Rugby Australia.Suaalii could travel with the Wallabies later this year on their European spring tour in November, should he be selected by new head coach Joe Schmidt.
