Co-founder Peter Platzer spent months reading academic papers on the subject of nanosatellites and identified a gap in the market for a new type of device which is no bigger than a wine bottle. That is until the cost of space launches began to decrease around a decade ago. Lower launch costs and cheaper, more efficient, and bulk-built tech has meant that the cost of sending satellites into orbit has decreased dramatically.
